This was one of my very early oil paintings I produced in the Glasgow School of Art. It was a time I also started tearing up my paper sketches, and the art tutor said I should stop tearing up my sketches and keep them. This was good advice because a few years later I framed a pastel sketch and it was bought at Edinburgh Festival. I no longer do sketches, I go straight into the finished painting. The picture frame colours matched the painting colours.
